Terms of use

Friend is a personal companion made by Ecodia. These terms are the agreement between you and Ecodia when you use it. We have kept them plain on purpose. If anything here is unclear, reach a real person.

Who we are

Friend is operated by Ecodia (Ecodia Pty Ltd and Ecodia Labs Pty Ltd, Australia). Where we say we, us, or Ecodia, that is who we mean.

Your account

You need an account to use Friend. Keep your sign-in details to yourself, and let us know if you think someone else has got into your account. You are responsible for what happens under your account. You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live.

What Friend does

Friend talks with you, remembers what you tell it, reads documents you give it, runs errands and scheduled tasks you set, and acts through services you connect. It is a helpful tool, not a person, a lawyer, a doctor, or a financial adviser. Use your own judgement before acting on anything it says, especially where money, health, or safety is involved.

Plans and payment

Paid plans are billed monthly through Stripe, our payment provider. Your card details are entered on Stripe and are never stored by us. You can change or cancel your plan at any time from the billing page; cancelling stops the next charge and your plan runs until the end of the period you have paid for. Prices are in Australian dollars unless shown otherwise.

Your content and connections

What you put into Friend, your messages, memories, documents, and the keys you connect, stays yours. You give us permission to store and process it only to run Friend for you. When you connect a service, you are telling Friend it may act on your behalf within the access that key allows; you can disconnect it at any time.

Fair use

Please do not use Friend to break the law, harm others, or abuse the systems it connects to. We may suspend an account that does.

No promises we cannot keep

We work hard to keep Friend running well, but we provide it as is. We do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error free, and to the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect loss. Nothing here takes away rights you have under Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded.

Changes and ending

We may update these terms as Friend grows; if we make a material change we will make it easy to see. You can stop using Friend and close your account at any time by contacting us.
